Nonprofits dedicated to empowering POC are stepping up to the plate. Their approach to marketing is largely setting the pace for the movement. Here are some unique ways that nonprofits are getting their message across at a time when it needs to be heard most:


The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is amplifying their cause with a unique and emotional hashtag. In response to the death of George Floyd and the ensuing protests that have fought back against police brutality, the NAACP is saying #WeAreDoneDying.  Shocking and yet, sadly true to the times, this hashtag is capturing social media users’ attention — and calling them to action in a unique way.

Human Rights Campaign

Predominantly known for its fight for the LGBTQ community, the Human Rights Campaign is true to its name across the board.  HRC has joined in support of the Black Lives Matter movement through social media posts.  Keeping relevant to the cause, and their message, HRC is using this time to highlight the voices, experiences and often tragic deaths of black members of the LGBTQ community.  HRC’s leverage of this particular situation is unique — without taking away from the main cause.  The stance directly supports the current movement while still echoing HRC’s overall message of support of the LGBTQ community.
